Episode #103 “Stones”
On today’s episode of Mountain Song and Story, I’ll be talking about the mysterious story of the Grafton Monster, an Appalachian bigfoot-like creature with sightings first seen in the late 1960s near the town of Grafton, West Virginia. The headless creature is sometimes known to have the likeness and look of a large boulder, so in honor of this story, today’s theme is rocks and stones and I’ll be playing songs and reading more stories relating to stone. From Medusa to Poseidon, folklore is full of stories of folks being petrified and turning into stone, I’ll look into a few of these myths and more on today’s program.
