Through text and artifacts, multiple theater experiences, film and sound, and interactive displays, the Birthplace of Country Music Museum shares the story of the 1927 Bristol Sessions recordings, explores how evolving sound technology shaped their success, and highlights how this rich musical heritage lives on in today’s music.

Join in the NEA Big Read 2024!

As part of the NEA Big Read, partner organizations the Bristol Public Library, Washington County Public Library, and Birthplace of Country Music Museum are offering a full schedule of NEA Big Read programs at all three sites – and beyond – during October and November 2024, including book discussions, a film screening, writing and family history workshops, author talks, an art exhibit, and a storytelling evening!

Community Day at the Museum!

Join us for the museum's annual Community Day on Saturday, October 26. Admission is FREE all day long, and a wide variety of family-friendly activities will be offered from 10:30am to 1:30pm, plus bluegrass music with local jammers will start at 2:00pm!

Museum Story Time – “The Relatives Came” by Cynthia Rylant

Aimed at toddler-age children and their grown-ups, we will gather on the first Friday of each month to read a music or Appalachia-related storybook, sing along with WBCM Radio Bristol show host Ella Patrick, and enjoy a related activity or coloring sheet. There is no cost to attend.
