Bristol, Tenn./Va. (July 19, 2022) – The Birthplace of Country Music (BCM) is ramping up logistics planning for its 21st annual Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, and they’re asking for your help during the big event. A Volunteer Expo will be held this Saturday, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. July 23, at Anderson Park in Downtown Bristol (421 5th Street, Bristol, TN) to recruit helpers from the community to make this year’s event shine. The Volunteer Expo is free and open to the public. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase from Little Delights Concessions and Sunset Slush. More than 800 volunteers are needed festival weekend.

“Community volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization,” said Leah Ross, BCM executive director of advancement. “They are often the first people visitors see when they get to the festival, and we rely on them to help make Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion run smoothly. The Volunteer Expo is a great opportunity for the community to meet our staff and committee members, ask questions about volunteering at the festival and find their area of interest.”

During the Volunteer Expo attendees may also sign up for shifts they wish to work at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, to be held Sept. 9-11.

A few of the duties requiring festival volunteers include helping with fencing set-up and tear down, working ticket booths and beverage gardens, manning enter/exit points, parking lot attendants, helping sell festival and artist merchandise, assisting vendors with load-in and load-out, and more. Families and businesses may be accommodated to work specific areas together.

Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion volunteers must be ages 16 and up. Volunteers who are 16 – 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Beverage garden volunteers must be 21 or older.

Volunteers at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion are asked to work a four-hour shift, but may sign up for more. Volunteers receive one single day pass to the festival for each shift they work and a volunteer t-shirt. Individuals may register for a shift at any time by visiting the festival’s website at BirthplaceOfCountryMusic.com/festival/volunteer. Be sure and check the Volunteer FAQ section on that page for more detailed information including shuttle service for volunteers.

Prior to the festival, volunteers are asked to download the Volunteer app, InitLive, for scheduling, check-in, and more. App information will be sent once volunteer application is approved.
