Join PUSH! Film Festival for an encore screening of the 2017 PUSH! Film Festival Best Feature Film Forgive–Don’t Forget on Thursday, December 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. The evening will begin with a welcome and cocktails at 6:00 p.m., followed by the film screening at 7:00 p.m. Afterwards filmmaker Brad Bennett will be present for a Q&A and a reception. This event is free and open to the public; however, due to limited seating, an RSVP is required.
About Forgive–Don’t Forget (documentary)
At its core, Forgive–Don’t Forget is about the connection between two very different cultures and the importance of remembrance. When Japan surrendered to the U.S. at the end of World War II, numerous Japanese swords were confiscated and taken back to the States. The Japanese sword, while once a symbol of wartime aggression, is also deeply embedded in Japan’s rich history and spiritual heritage. In order to better understand the past and build a bridge between cultures in the present, an American filmmaker attempts to return one of these surrendered swords to its original owner. 3 Days. 2 States. 1 Film Festival. PUSH! Film Festival, held in Historic Downtown Bristol, TN/VA, is a competitive, 3-day festival and celebration of the cinematic and visual arts. By bringing diverse films to our community and showcasing the best regional filmmakers, PUSH! aims to expand the artistic image of our region, engage new audiences in the world of film, and inspire creativity in all of us. In addition to a diverse variety of curated films, the film festival hosts a competition that devotes categories to Best Tennessee Films and Best Virginia Films (shot in the two states or made by a filmmaker from TN or VA), as well as Best Short and Best Feature (open to all films – local, national, and international) and an Audience Award. Workshops and other educational and networking opportunities for filmmakers and audience members of all ages are also on offer. Films and workshops are held across several venues including the historic, art-deco Paramount Bristol, the Bristol Public Library, and the Smithsonian-affiliated Birthplace of Country Music Museum.
