Through text and artifacts, multiple theater experiences, film and sound, and interactive displays, the Birthplace of Country Music Museum shares the story of the 1927 Bristol Sessions recordings, explores how evolving sound technology shaped their success, and highlights how this rich musical heritage lives on in today’s music.
1968: A Folsom Redemption is a collection of photographs and memories of two journalists lucky enough to be among a handful of eyewitnesses to the historic Johnny Cash concerts at Folsom Prison. The exhibit highlights Cash’s golden era from the January 1968 Folsom Prison album recording to a March 1, 1969 concert in Anaheim, California, when he was getting ready to launch his network television show. The collection include a wide range of intimate photos with friends and family to a backstage meeting with country music legend Merle Haggard with the Man in Black.
The state-of-the-art VMFA on the Road Artmobile -- a traveling exhibit and education studio -- is coming to the Birthplace of Country Music Museum and will be open to school groups,drop-in visitors, and Bristol Rhythm festivalgoers from September 7 to September 11, 2022!
