Stephen Bennett, Harp Guitarist in Concert

Renowned harp guitarist Stephen Bennett will perform at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum November 19 with a 1909 harp guitar and a newer version of the instrument. He will also give background on these beautiful rare instruments.

AAME Speaker Series: Banjo Romantika: American Bluegrass Music & the Czech Imagination

The Arts Alliance Mountain Empire has partnered with the Birthplace of Country Music Museum and the William King Museum of Art to present its 2016-2017 Speaker Series. Five speakers will present six talks around the common theme: "Art in Appalachia, Appalachia in the World." A number of events will be held over the course of the series including a film screening of "Banjo Romantika: American Bluegrass Music & The Czech Imagination" at the museum on Tuesday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m.

Shape Note Sing

The Old Field Singers will lead a Shape Note Sing in the Christian Harmony style (as opposed to Sacred Harp) at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum March 25. The event is free and open to everyone of all ages. Participants will learn the tradition of shape note singing in a group with no experience necessary.
