Join Teaching with Primary Sources—MTSU and the East Tennessee
Historical Society for a day of learning more about Tennessee’s historical
moments featured in the Tennessee social studies standards. We will explore these stories using a wide range of primary and secondary sources and share hands-on, literacy-rich strategies for using the sources in classroom instruction. The Birthplace of Country Music Museum will also give a short tour of their exhibits and share information about their educational resources and programs.
This workshop is supported through the Library of Congress and Humanities Tennessee and is designed for social studies and English language arts teachers as well as librarians and media specialists in grades 4 and up. Administrators and coaches responsible for supporting classroom curriculum are also welcome, as are museum educators.
To register or for questions, contact Lisa Oakley, ETHS Curator of Education, at oakley@eastTNhistory.org or call 865-215-8828.
