On Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 7:00 PM, we are hosting our second hybrid virtual and in-person Speaker Series event. East Tennessee native and renowned songwriter Ed Snodderly will be at the museum (and on Zoom) to talk about his musical journey, the craft of songwriting, the inspiration behind his music, and how to tap into creativity.

Ed Snodderly is a well-known educator, performer, songwriter, actor, and co-owner of one of the longest running music venues in the country, The Down Home in Johnson City, Tennessee. The Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville honored him by inscribing a verse of his song, “The Diamond Stream,” upon the wall in their Hall of Honor. He also passes on his knowledge and experience through a songwriting course at East Tennessee State University.

Ed uses images from the old and odd Appalachian world and combines them with his own musical backbone to create inspired, original, and beautiful songs. The songs are original, yet familiar. His guitar playing holds those ancestral rhythms. He makes primitive banjo and drums sound like the most obvious combination in the world. Whatever you want to call him—Alt-Country Singer? Old-Time Musician? Folkie?—Ed Snodderly is proof that Southern music, with all its old peculiarities, is alive and kicking.

**COVID-19 Policy
In-person audience members, staff, and volunteers will be required to wear face coverings and show proof of vaccination or proof of negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours for entry to the program in the museum’s Performance Theater.
