Join us for an evening with renowned harp guitarist Stephen Bennett at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. Bennett will perform with a 1909 harp guitar and a new version of the instrument, and will give background on these rare instruments. A skilled guitarist, Bennett will also perform with a standard 6-string guitar and his 1930 National steel guitar, choosing from a broad repertoire of well-known songs and his own compositions.
A prolific and original guitarist, Stephen Bennett has performed around the world and created a large body of recorded work ranging from solo guitar to his 2013 release The Nutcracker: Complete Ballet Score for Guitar Orchestra. His latest release is a collection of music for harp guitar titled Tone Poet.
The Toronto Fingerstyle Guitar Association once referred to Stephen as “the Jedi Master of Finger-style Guitar.” An Italian guitar festival promoter wrote: “What Stephen can do, and few artists have this gift, is to speak directly to your heart and to move your best feelings!” In performance and recordings, Stephen’s life-long love affair with the guitar is apparent – and contagious!
