2016 Pick Along Summer Camp – Songwriting Camp

July 11, 2016 @ 12:00 am - July 15, 2016 @ 11:59 pm

Join the The Palace Pickers band at Pick Along! Summer Camps 2016!

Dates: July 11 – 15
Songwriting Camp ages 10 – 14 and 15 – 17

If your child has a love for music and creative writing, this is the camp for them! From July 11-15, we welcome anyone, ages 10-17, to join us for a week of exploring the world of songwriting. The camps will be divided into a younger group (10-14) and older (15-17), with courses and activities designed to nurture and encourage each individual’s unique expression of writing through song. There is no experience necessary! In these beginner sessions, you will be instructed in popular song structure, collaborating with other writers, how to combine melodies with words and so much more!

Ed Snodderly

We are thrilled to announce that East Tennessee native and renowned songwriter, Ed Snodderly, will be joining us as a songwriting camp instructor! Snodderly is well-known as an educator, performer, songwriter, actor and co-owner of one of the longest running music venues in the country, The Down Home. The Country Music Hall Of Fame Museum honored him by inscribing a verse of his song, “The Diamond Stream”, upon the wall in the Hall Of Honor. Ed teaches dobro and guitar for ETSU’s Old Time program and the department’s very successful songwriting class.

No previous musical experience is required for Pick Along! Summer Camps, only interest in music and a desire to learn and have fun! This camp is designed for beginners and anyone interested in our musical heritage. Whether you know just a little or absolutely nothing, this is the place for you!
