Associations



Because of the historic recording sessions that occurred in 1927 in Bristol, the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance has a unique mission.

However, the BCMA is not alone in working to promote and preserve bluegrass, old-time country, folk, and other musical traditions that developed in the southern Appalachians.

The Appalachian Highlands Music Association (A.H.M.A.)

A non-profit organization formed in 1998 to promote, preserve, and foster Bluegrass and Old-time Music of the Appalachians. A Princeton West Virginia based corporation, the A.H.M.A. consists of volunteers and artists teamed to present Bluegrass and Old-time Music programs for members and general public.

Bluegrass America

Bluegrass America, the oldest continually run bluegrass organization in the world. Site contains links, reviews, festivals, and commentary.

Central Texas Bluegrass Association

The Central Texas Bluegrass Association is an organization of people--listeners and players mostly from Central Texas--who enjoy bluegrass music.

Country Legends Association

The association was formed to promote Traditional Country, Gospel and Bluegrass music which has been ignored to some extent, and to preserve the roots that brought Traditional Country Music to the public

International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)

The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) is a professional trade association dedicated to promoting and expanding the success of bluegrass music. The organization has over 2500 members in all 50 of the United States and in over 30 foreign countries.

Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America

SPBGMA is a not-for-profit corporation with the follwoing goals:

  • To preserve the traditional spirit and art form of Bluegrass music
  • To offer a management service for any community desiring to hold a Bluegrass festival
  • To organize and conduct Bluegrass Band competitions and to qualify individuals as judges for band competitions. In all SPBGMA sponsored events, instruments must be traditional acoustic instruments, no electrified instruments are permitted
  • To encourage professionalism in appearance and showmanship by the performers at SPBGMA events
  • To encourage the support of various Bluegrass publications and associations.

South West Bluegrass Association

A large organization of bluegrass pickers and grinners in the Southwest United States that promotes bluegrass music with a bimonthly newsletter, information about bluegrass festivals, campouts, weekly bluegrass house jams and school education programs.

Swiss Bluegrass Music Association

Traditional Appalachian Musical Heritage Association
